Who We Are

The NAMAcademy offers coaching to Public Sector Officials, consultants, Civil Society and private sector representatives for the conceptualization of climate change mitigation policies and actions under the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change.

Established by UNEP DTU Partnership in 2012, the NAMAcademy brings together facilities and personnel from UDP and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). The trainers are seasoned experts who have provided technical assistance to developing countries' climate actions over the past 10-15 years under different programmes funded by bilateral and multilateral institutions, while at the same time providing support during international climate negotiations. However, as the courses are tailor made and DTU boasts of more than 3000 professors and researchers, the composition of the training team will change from course to course.

The NAMAcademy is UNEP DTU Partnership's early stage support programme for the development of mitigation policies and actions. Followed by our other support programmes, ADMIRE, FIRM and the UDP Climate Finance Support Initiative, the UDP provides support for NAMA development from concept to implementation.

The UNEP DTU Partnership was established in 1990. It operates under a tripartite agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). It is located at the UN City in Copenhagen. Since 1st January 2012, It is part of the Department of Management Engineering at DTU.

Through in-depth research, policy analysis, and capacity building activities, UNEP DTU Partnership assists developing countries in a transition towards more low carbon development paths, and supports integration of climate-resilience in national development.
